Locke A. Taylor Veterinary Hospital Client Services
Client Services
Locke A. Taylor Veterinary Hospital has been available to the greater Richmond area since 1969. As clients in the Richmond area regularly returned to the hospital for their pet's care, new clients regularly joined, helping establish us as one of the most supportive and caring animal care centers in the greater Richmond area. The success of the hospital stems from a foundation established back in 1969, when Dr. Taylor made it a focal point that his team would treat their clients as they'd like to be treated and that his doctors and staff would treat their patients like they were their own pets. We've adhered to that standard for over 40 years, and will continue to practice with that foundation in the forefront of our minds. We offer a range of client services—services that Dr. Taylor and the medical team believe should be available to every pet owner.
Microchipping For Your Richmond Area Pet
A lost pet is a frightening situation that can often end with devastating consequences. Studies have shown more than 10 million pets get lost each year and approximately 90 percent of those found, would not have been returned to their owners without some form of permanent lost pet identification. The good news is that over the years we have reunited many pets with their owners using microchips, including one dog that had strayed nearly 60 miles from home!
The team at Locke A. Taylor Veterinary Hospital considers microchip pet IDs a fundamental way to protect your pet and an important part of responsible pet ownership. We use the HomeAgain microchip system. Each microchip registers the animal with a unique identification number, which is filed in a database with your contact information. The contact information can be updated anytime, and it is important to remember to do so whenever your information changes. If your pet is lost, the microchip can be scanned by animal control officers, at shelters and at veterinary hospitals in the U.S. and in many foreign countries.
This safe, reliable and permanent pet identification takes less than 10 seconds to implant and can save you and your pet days, weeks, or more of fear and anguish.
HomeAgain membership offers additional benefits, such as proactive pet recovery and free access to ASPCA Poison Control. HomeAgain also comes with a number of useful services to pet owners such as their: National Pet Recovery Database, Lost Pet Specialists, Rapid Lost Pet Alerts, Lost Pet Medical Insurance, Travel Assistance for Found Pets and more.
In-House Pharmacy
As the prescribing veterinarian for your pet's medications, we are able to ensure there is a direct link between the exam room and the pharmacy. This means your pet will receive the right medication, at the right dose in the right form, as quickly as possible. We will also be able to easily guide you on the medication's use as well as monitor its effectiveness. You can also feel confident all the medications we dispense were obtained from safe, reliable sources and stored under the right conditions.
We maintain a complete inventory of pharmaceuticals, vitamins, shampoos, flea and tick control products and heartworm preventatives to meet the needs of your pet. We carry many different types of food, but if your pet requires a prescription diet we do not carry, we can easily order it for you.
Ensuring that you have convenient and timely access to competitively priced medications is an important aspect at Locke A. Taylor Veterinary Hospital.
Refills are easy, too. Simply give us a call at (804) 262-8629 or visit the prescription refill page.
End-of-Life Planning
For many pet owners, even thinking about their pet's final days is difficult and emotional. Pets play a significant role in each family. It is this strong bond, born from years of loyal companionship, that makes this time particularly hard to bear.
We encourage you to talk with the veterinary healthcare team about these issues before they become an urgent matter. Find out about your options, including crematory and burial services, make some key decisions ahead of time, and ask us to add this information to your pet's record. Taking the time to plan, as challenging as it may be, will lessen the pain and stress for you and your pet.
We strive to help you prepare for these important issues with the compassion and sensitivity they require.
